Our work with Samson Corporation, a lubrication systems manufacturer, focused on converting the company’s massive print product catalog into a user-friendly, online experience. Samson also needed to be able to update the site and product information without needing to hire a web developer for every single change. After analyzing the company’s internal and consumer-facing needs, we built a custom online catalog that continues to boost Samson’s site traffic and engagement.

Challenges

Samson Corporation is a manufacturing company that produces and markets standard and custom-engineered lubrication systems and equipment. The biggest challenge was that the website needed to include a digital version of the product catalog presented in a user-friendly way to help both existing and new customers find detailed information about each product series. In addition, product pages needed details about accessories and package kits available for each family of products. Adding to the challenge was that there was not a digital equivalent of the catalog available in a format that could be converted to a database to populate an online version of the catalog. 

Solutions

Over a series of discovery meetings, we worked very closely with the client to identify and understand the components of the products and how to present them in a way that would make sense to both existing customers, who were used to the printed catalog, and new customers learning about Samson’s products. We created a product template to present part numbers, markets serviced, product specifications, supporting packages and accessories, tech sheets, and service manuals. A standardized format made it possible to create an intuitive user experience on the site, and the advanced search and product comparison tables help customers quickly find the equipment to best meet their needs.

Results

The new Samson website showcases the product families in a highly user-friendly way. The redesign represents Samson’s commitment to delivering quality products and services to their customers quickly and efficiently. The Samson team is able to update content on the site on a regular basis to reflect changes in product lines, add upcoming events and classes, and provide details for specific customer groups without the support of a web developer. Since the redesigned site launched, there has been a consistent increase in new users and user engagement.
